Maharashtra women arrested for killing their mothers in 2 separate incidents

Two daughters have been arrested in separate murder cases in Maharashtra’s Raigad district for killing their mothers between September 10 and 13, police said.
In the first incident, 42-year-old Sangeeta Zore was smothered by her daughter, Bharti Zore, 20, and her boyfriend, Santosh Nandgaonkar, 32, in Khalapur early on September 10.
According to police reports, the crime occurred after Sangeeta caught Bharti and Santosh in a compromising position at their home. To silence Sangeeta, Santosh used a blanket to smother her while Bharti restrained her mother’s hands and legs. The duo then attempted to stage the murder as a suicide by hanging Sangeeta’s body with a saree on the terrace.
Three days later, Bharti’s younger sister, Surekha, who had witnessed the murder in hiding, disclosed the truth to her relatives. Both Bharti and Santosh were subsequently arrested by the police.
The second case occurred on September 13 in Panvel, where Priya Naik was found dead in her home. Priya’s body showed signs of struggle and she was bleeding from her nose and mouth. Post-mortem results confirmed she had been strangled with a rope-like object.
The police grew suspicious of Priya’s daughter, Pranali Naik, during questioning due to her evasive responses.
Investigations revealed that Pranali, who was estranged from her husband and involved in divorce proceedings, had plotted her mother’s murder to gain control of her properties, which included 12 flats and two shops, providing a steady income.
Pranali, frustrated by her mother’s disapproval of her lavish spending and refusal to give her money, hired her friends, Vivek Patil and Vishal Pandey, to carry out the murder for Rs 10 lakh. All three were arrested by the police.
