City of Joburg to elect new Speaker

JOHANNESBURG – The City of Johannesburg will elect a new council speaker on Wednesday.
This after the African Independent Congress’s Margret Arnolds resigned from the position last week.
Her resignation follows her appointment as Finance MMC under newly-elected Mayor Dada Morero.
ActionSA Caucus Leader Nobuhle Mthembu is tipped to be the next speaker.
The ANC’s Morero was elected mayor last Friday, succeeding Al Jama-ah councillor Kabelo Gwamanda.
